Construction payroll software · CanadaUnion rules in. Payroll-ready file out.
Appello works out construction pay the way Canadian collective agreements write it: by trade level, wage region, overtime rules, travel zone, board and parking. Foremen enter hours by job on the phone, or the office enters the crew in bulk. Once the week is approved and locked, Appello exports it to the payroll system you already run. Appello does not run payroll or remit to the CRA — it hands your payroll system hours that are already right.
Built around Canadian agreements
The rate on a union timesheet depends on half a dozen things. Appello keeps all of them on the record, so payroll isn't a lookup exercise.
Agreements with start dates
Each agreement version has its own rates and start date. Hours before the date keep the old rates; approved weeks never change.
Rate parts, not one number
Each wage rate is built from its parts — base rate, vacation pay, health and welfare — that add up to the total.
Overtime by the agreement
Daily and weekly overtime thresholds per agreement and wage region split the hours in bulk crew entry.
Travel, board and parking
Zones in kilometres from the hall, office or home, or per-kilometre pay. Paid once a day, on the job the agreement says.
Union halls on the record
Each worker's hall stays on their record, and a hall can be the starting point for travel.
Canadian payroll exports
Only approved hours export, to Sage 50 Canada (time-slip import), QuickBooks Online, Dayforce Powerpay, Avantage, Payroll4Construction, QuickBooks Desktop or a plain CSV. A locked week can't be edited.
What Appello leaves to your payroll system
- Running payroll, cutting cheques and direct deposits.
- Source deductions, CRA remittances, T4s and ROEs.
- Union dues and benefit remittance reports to the hall.
Questions Canadian contractors ask
Does Appello replace my payroll provider?
No. Appello works out hours and rates and exports an approved, locked week. Your payroll system — Sage 50 Canada, Dayforce Powerpay, Avantage or another — runs the pay, deductions and remittances.
Which Canadian payroll systems does Appello export to?
Sage 50 Canada (time-slip import), QuickBooks Online, Dayforce Powerpay, Avantage, Payroll4Construction, QuickBooks Desktop or a plain CSV. Each company picks its payroll system once, and the matching export appears on the payroll report.
Can Appello handle more than one collective agreement?
Yes. Set up each agreement with its trade levels and wage regions. Each worker has an agreement and a trade level, and hours can be logged at a different classification when the job calls for it.
