Elgin Construction Company Limited celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2024, having served South Western Ontario since 1944. Founded by Arturo (Art) Nicli in the early 1940s after immigrating from Mijano, Italy in the 1920s, the company has grown from a small office in St. Thomas into one of the oldest established heavy construction companies in the region. Art's wife Beulah worked alongside him managing office and administration, while their two sons Robert (Bob) and James joined the company in their teens, helping to expand the business and service offerings. Bob Nicli led the company from the early 1990s until his death in 2019, serving as a dedicated advocate for the construction industry and the Ontario Sewer and Watermain Construction Association (OSWCA). Bob served on OSWCA's Board of Directors from 1983 to 1992 and as president for two terms during 1984-85, demonstrating his commitment to improved business conditions for the industry. Today, Bob's daughter Anne-Marie Nicli serves as Vice President alongside President Brad DeCourcy, who joined the company in 2013 and became a partner in 2018. Together with their dedicated leadership team, they carry on the commitment to safety and quality workmanship established 80 years ago. The company works with municipalities and private developers to improve infrastructure and build new communities throughout South Western Ontario. Elgin Construction specializes in sewer and watermain construction, delivering projects that enhance regional water systems and support community development. The company takes pride in its experienced workforce, with 32% of staff having served over 15 years and many exceeding 20 years of service. The site supervision team, led by Carlos, Joe-Luis, Jeremy, and George, collectively brings 110 years of experience and is well respected in the industry for quality workmanship and consideration toward homeowners in the communities where they work.
