Certification-aware scheduling

See the expired ticket before you send the worker

Give a job its required certifications and Appello checks every worker against them on the Daily Schedule. Each cell is green when the worker's tickets are good, yellow when one is expiring soon, and red when one is missing or expired — before you assign anyone. It warns; it does not block, so the scheduler keeps the final say. It is built for whoever builds tomorrow's crews, and it is live today.

Certification-aware scheduling: how it works

1

Put the requirement on the job

In the job's settings, add the certifications every worker on that job must hold — Confined Space for the outage, Working at Heights for the lift work. Set them on a project to apply them to all of its current jobs at once.

2

Every cell is coloured before you click

The Daily Schedule lists jobs down the side and workers across the top. Each cell shows that worker against the tickets required on that job and the other jobs in its project: green, yellow or red. Status is judged on the day you are scheduling, not today, so a ticket that lapses on Thursday already shows red on Friday's schedule.

3

Hover to see which ticket

Hover a scheduled worker and the certification compliance check opens: every required certification, its expiry date, and its days left and status as of today. No digging through the worker's file.

4

A warning, not a wall

You can still assign a red worker — the renewal may be booked, or they may be doing work the ticket doesn't cover. If the worker has time off booked that day, Appello asks you to confirm first.

A normal week with it

  1. Once per job

The project manager adds the job's required certifications when the job is set up.

  2. Each afternoon

The scheduler builds tomorrow's crews on the Daily Schedule and moves anyone showing red to a job they can work.

  3. Monday

The safety coordinator books renewals for the yellow cells on the certification status report before they turn red.

What dispatching blind costs

Most schedulers check tickets from memory or a spreadsheet, if they check at all. The miss shows up at the gate.

  • A worker is turned away at site and the crew is short for the day.
  • Someone drives back to the shop to swap a person, and the job loses the morning.
  • A worker ends up doing ticketed work without the ticket, and the risk is yours.
  • The scheduler has to know every ticket and every expiry date by heart.

Certification-aware scheduling: common questions

Will Appello stop me scheduling someone with an expired ticket?

No. Appello's certification check warns; it does not block. On the Daily Schedule it shows the cell in red and tells you which ticket is missing or expired, but the decision stays with the scheduler. There are good reasons to assign anyway — the renewal may be booked, or the worker may be doing work the ticket doesn't cover.

Where do the requirements come from?

Appello's certification check takes its requirements from the job. Each job carries a list of required certifications in its settings, and you can set them on a project to cover all of its current jobs at once. The worker's status comes from their certification records in Appello: green when good, yellow when expiring soon, red when missing or expired.

Does it check the day of the work or today?

Appello's certification check judges each ticket on the day of the work, not today. A ticket that expires before the date you are scheduling shows as expired on that day's schedule, even if it is still valid today, so a ticket that lapses on Thursday already shows red on Friday's schedule. Hover a worker to see days left as of today.
