Procore alternativesYour GC runs Procore. Your crews run on Appello.
Procore is a construction project platform built around the project itself: general contractors, owners and their subcontractors sharing drawings, submittals, RFIs and daily logs, with unlimited users on one project record. Appello is built for the trade contractor's own business: your crews' time and union pay rules, safety forms, certifications, job cost and progress billing. Many trade contractors use both: the GC's Procore for the project, Appello for their own company. Appello does not replace Procore's document control.
Why trade contractors pick Appello instead
Procore is built around the project. These are the parts of running a trade contractor that sit outside it.
Union rules before payroll
Agreements, trade levels, wage regions and overtime rule sets price every hour. Approved days keep their rates when an agreement renews.
Travel, board and parking
Zones measured from the union hall, the office or the worker's home, or pay by distance. Paid once a day, on the right job.
Tickets checked on the schedule
The daily schedule shows each worker green, yellow or red against the job's required certifications. It warns before anyone drives to site.
Keep your payroll system
Approved, locked weeks export to Sage 50, QuickBooks Online or Desktop, Dayforce Powerpay, Payroll4Construction, ComputerEase or a plain CSV.
Margin while the job runs
The estimate becomes the budget. Approved labor, bills and expenses land on the cost code, and the WIP report shows over and under billing.
Your own safety forms
Build hazard assessments and toolbox talks with 14 question types. Workers sign with a PIN and every submission is emailed to its recipients.
Appello and Procore, side by side
Procore wins on project documents and on working across companies. Appello wins on the trade contractor's crews and pay.

When Procore is the better choice
- You are the general contractor, managing drawings, submittals and RFIs for the whole building.
- Your work depends on sharing one project record with owners, designers and other trades.
- Managing change orders across many subcontractors is a daily job for your team.
- You already run Sage 300 CRE or another ERP for payroll and only need a project layer on top.

Questions about Appello and Procore
Can Appello replace Procore?
For a trade contractor's own operations, often yes; for GC-style document control, no. Appello covers crew time, union pay rules, safety forms, certifications, job cost and progress billing. It has RFIs and drawings on the job, but not submittals or a shared project record for the whole building. If your GC requires Procore on the project, you will still use it there.
Does Appello integrate with Procore?
No. There is no connector between Appello and Procore today. Contractors who use both keep the GC's project documents in Procore and run their own crews, pay and job cost in Appello. Anything shared between the two, such as daily progress, is entered in each system by hand.
How is Procore priced compared with Appello?
Procore charges an annual fee per product based on your annual construction volume, with unlimited users, and publishes no list prices. Appello is priced by module for your company, and our pricing page lets you build a plan. For an exact comparison, get a quote from each for the same scope of work.
Does Appello handle union payroll better than Procore?
For union crews, Appello does more before payroll. Agreements with dated versions, trade levels, wage regions, overtime rule sets, travel zones, board and parking all set the rate on each hour. Procore's public material describes overtime thresholds and payroll exports, but not collective agreements or travel pay. Neither one runs payroll itself.
