About

Founded in 1912 by James F. Franchescini in Toronto, Ontario, Dufferin Construction Company has built a legacy spanning over 100 years in the Canadian civil construction industry. The company was awarded its first provincial highway project in 1917, grading the Rouge Hill portion of Kingston Road (Highway 2) in Toronto. In 1961, St. Lawrence Cement Company acquired the company, and it has evolved through strategic acquisitions to become a division of CRH Canada Group Inc., one of the largest materials and construction companies in the country. Today, Dufferin Construction Company is a full-service contractor and industry leader with the people, expertise, and financial strength to execute and deliver both large and small projects successfully across Canada. With approximately 960 employees, the company has earned its reputation as one of the most experienced, innovative, and quality-driven construction contractors in Canada. In 1995, Dufferin Construction became the first concrete paving company in North America to receive ISO 9002 certification for the manufacturing and laying of concrete roadways, demonstrating their commitment to quality excellence. The company has played a significant role in building transportation infrastructure in Ontario since 1912, and its geographic reach now extends through Western Canada, making it a Canadian leader in civil construction. Dufferin Construction was the first contractor to successfully implement Rapid Lift Technology in Ontario, showcasing their innovative approach to construction methods. The company operates through various delivery modes including general contractor, design-build contractor, construction manager, subcontractor, and public-private partnership models to best meet customer needs. Dufferin Construction's core capabilities span multiple sectors including roadways (bridges and overpasses, highways and roads, interchanges, and tunnels), infrastructure (airports, marine, municipal, and rail projects), site development (commercial/industrial, environmental rehabilitation, landfills, and residential), asphalt materials manufacturing, and comprehensive construction services. Their construction services include aggregate recycling, asphalt paving, concrete paving, project management, snow removal, and specialized services like Slipstone, granular sealing, tack coat, surface treatment, chip seal, and fog seal. The company is recognized as the largest paving contractor in their operational area. With a head office in Oakville and multiple locations across Ontario including London, Hamilton, Barrie, Cambridge, Simcoe, and Lindsay, Dufferin Construction operates numerous asphalt plants and recycled material yards throughout the province.
